Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) troops based at Damasa in Mandera County, recently conducted Civil–Military Cooperation (CIMIC) outreach activities in Damasa Town aimed at improving the welfare of the local community and strengthening relations between the military and residents.

The outreach programme comprised a medical camp that provided essential health services to residents, as well as an environmental support initiative at Damasa Comprehensive School. During the exercise, the troops installed subsurface lateral pipes fitted with button drippers (pre-perforated) to enable efficient irrigation of individual trees, in an effort to promote tree survival and environmental conservation amid the ongoing drought.

In addition, the troops held a Key Leadership Engagement (KLE) meeting with local community elders to discuss prevailing security concerns and strengthen cooperation in maintaining peace and stability within the area.

The initiatives were geared towards enhancing the well-being of the residents, supporting environmental sustainability efforts during the harsh climatic conditions, and fostering a cordial working relationship between the Kenya Defence Forces and the people of Damasa.

The activity concluded with members of the community expressing appreciation to the troops for their continued support and engagement. The locals further pledged to work closely with the security agencies to enhance security and promote peaceful coexistence in the region.
