2026 World Cup: Ghana will show the world we’re top nation – Antoine Semenyo

Manchester City forward Antoine Semenyo says Ghana has the ability to compete against any nation at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The four-time African champions will be competing in the Mundial for the fifth time and are expected to better their performance from their last appearance following a shambolic campaign that saw Ghana finished 3rd in the group phase at Qatar 2022 World Cup.

Ghana is housed in Group L and would be aiming to fight points with England, Croatia and Panama in a tournament scheduled for mid this year in the USA, Canada and Mexico.

It’s a moment of pride and image redemption for the Black Stars with huge expectation on the team who’s best performance at the world cup happened in 2010 which was held in South Africa.

Speaking to CBS Sports, Antoine Semenyo stressed that Ghana is determined to show the world they are a top nation and will compete against any side at the Mundial.

“We want to show people around the world that Ghana is one of the top nations and we can compete with the best”, Semenyo told CBS Sports in an interview.

“There’s being a bit of small talks [ with English players] but as Ghanaians we know its going to be a bit if a challenge”

“They are a star-studded team. They have soo many top class players but we believe in ourselves”, he affirmed.

The Black Stars will kick start their campaign with game against Panama on June 17 in Toronto before facing European heavyweight England on June 23 in Boston then conclude group phase with Croatia clash on June 27 in Philadelphia.
