Asante Kotoko head coach Eric Tinkler has assured supporters that the team will put up a good performance against Hearts of Oak in the Democracy Cup.
The two most successful clubs in Ghana will lock horns at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Friday, August 28, to battle for this year’s Democracy Cup trophy.
Speaking in a pre-match interview, Tinkler indicated that he has been impressed by the team’s preparations for the upcoming clash.
“Yeah, I think ultimately, so far, I think I’ve been quite happy with what I’ve seen in terms of our preparation. The players, obviously, getting to know me better and my expectations, and obviously me getting to know the players a lot better, both in terms of their work ethic, their character, their personality, and obviously what they’re capable of doing on the field of play; not a lot of new faces also coming into the squad.
“So very important for them to learn what my expectations are, certain fundamentals of the game, and obviously the things that I call the non-negotiables, and the players have responded extremely well,” Tinkler disclosed to AKSC Media.
On the match against Hearts of Oak, the coach is confident Asante Kotoko will put up a top display and eventually emerge victorious.
“So we’re obviously looking to get to the game on the 28th in the Democracy Cup against Hearts of Oak, and put on a good performance, especially at home, especially in front of our own fans,” Tinkler added.
The 2026 Democracy Cup is scheduled to kick off at 3 pm at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
