The Ghana Police Service has arrested five suspects in connection with a robbery attack at Nkaseim in the Ahafo Region.

The suspects; Mutar Kofi, 35, Mahamadu Sagio alias Salifu, 45, Shaibu Issah Jallo alias Jibo, 28, Abdul Suleman, 40, and Bukari Sulley alias Tailor, 25, were arrested on separate dates in connection with the robbery.

Commissioner of Police (COP) Lydia Yaako Donkor, Director General of the Criminal Investigation Department, made this known during a press conference on Thursday.

She said on December 2, 2025, the suspects, together with other accomplices armed with weapons, blocked the Goaso-Tepa Road and simultaneously attacked the Nkaseim Police Station, Adwumapa Cocoa Buying Company, Kobby Gold Buying Company, and the Asutifi Rural Bank at Nkaseim.

During the attack, the assailants made away with two AK47 service rifles.

“They also stole cash amounts from the bank, GHC14,000.00 from the cocoa buying company, and GH¢12,000.00 from the gold buying company,” she said.

COP Donkor said during the robbery, the attackers shot and injured an employee of the Adwumapa Cocoa Buying Company.

Following sustained intelligence gathering and forensic investigations, she said the Anti-Armed Robbery Unit arrested Mutar Kofi, a commercial tricycle rider, on January 16, 2026, at a location known as “Ata ne Ata” near Nkaseim, and he admitted his involvement in the robbery.

“Further investigations led to the arrest of suspect Mahamadu Sagio, aged 45, an illegal miner and resident of Nkaseim,” she said.

Investigations also led to the arrest of suspect Shaibu Issah Jallo, a trader at Chereponi, and Abdul Suleman, a herdsman at Tanga near Karaga in the Northern Region.

The CID Boss said on January 25, one other suspect, Bukari Sulley, a trader at Alabar in Kumasi, was also arrested in connection with the robbery.

“Efforts have been intensified to arrest suspect Hoyeefi, who has been identified as the gang leader and in possession of the stolen weapons, together with other firearms used during the robbery; as well as two other suspects, identified as Dauda and Mohammed Ali, who are currently on the run,” she added.

She urged the public to take their personal security seriously to mitigate crime.
