The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) is holding a high-stakes Special General Meeting (SGM) this morning, Saturday, at Three Steers Hotel in Meru, with the conduct of seven National Executive Committee (NEC) members expected to take centre stage.
The meeting brings together members of the FKF General Assembly, the federation’s supreme decision-making organ, at a time when governance and internal divisions remain important issues in Kenyan football.
According to an FKF press statement dated November 6, delegates will deliberate on resolutions made by NEC members on April 24, 2026, their implications for federation operations and the conduct of the officials involved before considering the way forward.
Those whose conduct will be considered include FKF Vice President McDonald Mariga, Women Representative Kerubo Momanyi, Gabriel Mghendi (Coast), Dan Shikanda (Nairobi), Collins Opiyo Kalee (Nyanza), Robert Macharia (Central) and Bernard Lagat (Upper Rift Valley).

The meeting will also attract international attention, with FIFA and Confederation of African Football (CAF) representatives attending as observers.
The FIFA delegation includes Bruno Comicholi, Senior MA Governance Service Manager, and David Ndayisenga, head of the FIFA Regional Office in Kigali. CAF will be represented by Legal Manager Nnaemeka A. Olu.
Acting Sports Registrar Chacha J. Maroa will also attend alongside officials from the State Department for Sports.
The SGM was convened by members of the FKF Congress under Article 31(2) of the FKF Constitution, 2017.
For Kenyan football stakeholders, the big question is whether the meeting will provide a clear path towards resolving the federation’s internal differences and strengthening its governance.
The decisions made in Meru could have significant implications for the running of Kenyan football.
