Gathoni wa Muchomba Seeks Gachagua’s Forgiveness, Reveals Failed Attempts to Meet Him

Githunguri Member of Parliament Gathoni wa Muchomba has publicly reached out to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, asking him to forgive her if she wronged him while expressing doubts about her decision to defend him during his impeachment.

In an emotional appeal, the outspoken legislator revealed that she had attempted to contact Gachagua privately and even sent him messages requesting a meeting, but had not received a response.

Muchomba appeared eager to resolve any differences between them, suggesting that they hold a discussion involving Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, whom she referred to as Kingi in her remarks.

Addressing the former deputy president, Muchomba said she was willing to personally approach him and apologise if she had done anything wrong.

She also questioned whether standing by Gachagua during his impeachment proceedings had been the right decision, suggesting that she was now reflecting on the political choices she made during that difficult period.

Her remarks come against the backdrop of changing political relationships following Gachagua’s removal from office in October 2024.

The impeachment exposed divisions among political leaders who had previously supported the former deputy president.

Muchomba’s latest statement could reopen discussions about her relationship with Gachagua and the political alliances that shaped the impeachment process.

Her willingness to seek forgiveness publicly also raises questions about whether the two politicians could eventually reconcile after their apparent differences.

However, it remains unclear whether Gachagua will accept her request for a meeting or respond to her appeal.

The proposed meeting involving other political figures could provide an opportunity for the leaders to address their disagreements and possibly rebuild relationships.
