How Granddaughter’s Disagreement With Boyfriend Led to Death of 86-Year-Old Grandmother in Loresho
Fresh details have emerged on how a disagreement involving an 86-year-old woman’s granddaughter and her boyfriend allegedly resulted in the grandmother’s death inside her home in Loresho, Nairobi, on October 30, 2026.
According to details presented in court, the incident reportedly followed a disagreement between Dorita and her granddaughter, Thandie Malaika Gitao, after the elderly woman allegedly found her with her boyfriend, Immanuel Munyeki, inside her house.
Court documents indicate that Dorita was unhappy with their presence and reportedly demanded that the two leave her house and surrender the keys to the property.
Although Thandie initially left following the confrontation, she is said to have returned later and spent approximately an hour with her grandmother.
However, what happened during that period remains a key part of the investigations as detectives seek to establish the events that led to the elderly woman’s death.
Shortly afterwards, neighbours and other people in the area were reportedly alerted that Dorita was bleeding inside her house.
She was subsequently discovered with a fatal injury to her neck, prompting an emergency response and police investigations into the circumstances surrounding her death.
Further details presented during the court proceedings indicated that police also found some family members allegedly attempting to clean the scene before investigations had been completed.
The development reportedly raised additional concerns among investigators, who are seeking to establish whether any evidence may have been interfered with.
Those arrested in connection with the incident include Dorita’s daughter, Regina Wambui Gitau, granddaughter Thandie Malaika Gitao, son Antony Macharia and Immanuel Munyeki.
The four are being investigated as detectives work to piece together the events surrounding the death of the 86-year-old woman.
On Monday, November 2, 2026, Kibera Law Courts granted investigators 10 days to detain the four suspects as they continue gathering evidence.
