Gachagua Hosts Charity Ngilu in Wamunyoro [Details]
Gachagua described Ngilu as the ‘Iron Lady’ of Kenyan politics and a lead architect of the NARC coalition.
The Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader, Rigathi Gachagua, hosted former Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu at his Wamunyoro home on Tuesday, November 3.
Gachagua described Ngilu as the ‘Iron Lady’ of Kenyan politics and a lead architect of the NARC coalition that sent the KANU regime packing in the 2002 General Election.

He picked Ngilu’s brain on how the United Opposition can realise the same dream as NARC did in 2002, but this time, against President William Ruto.
“Ngilu, together with the late President Mwai Kibaki and Kijana Wamalwa, crafted a winning strategy that brought the KANU era to an end.

“This morning, I benefited greatly from Hon. Ngilu’s wisdom as she took me through how NARC was crafted and implemented,” Gachagua stated.
The former Deputy President said that Ngilu intimated the strategies they used in 2002, and advised him on what the Opposition needs to do to liberate our country, which he claimed was in a chokehold by agents of corruption and impunity and lead it into prosperity.
“The lessons I have learnt will be very instrumental. I assure the Kenyan people that I am more knowledgeable, and I can clearly see light at the end of the tunnel,” he reiterated.
Gachagua reaffirmed his commitment towards the United Opposition to field a single candidate as a flagbearer.
His commitment comes amid complaints by Jubilee Leader Fred Matiang’i and Democratic Party Leader Justin Muturi, who called him out over his treatment of other principals in the Opposition.
Matiang’i warned that the ex-DP’s arrogance and pride would split the opposition and make it very difficult for the opposition to unite.
On his part, Muturi accused him of political bullying and undermining the unity of the Opposition.
He argued that no Kenyan President has ever been made by one community alone, but through national consensus, strategic alliances and the ability to unite Kenyans across ethnic and regional boundaries.
