Upper East: Some NDC MPs must lose their seats for region to get development – Chief

The Chief of Kotintaabig in the Nabdam District of the Upper East, Naab Bileehsong Lanwont Namoog, has argued that the Upper East Region will never be taken seriously in terms of development if some National Democratic Congress(NDC) Members of Parliament(MPs) do not lose their seat to send a strong signal to the NDC that the region is not a bonafide, unchanging stronghold of it.

For him, until at least five MPs out of the fifteen MPs of the region lose their seats to the opposition, the region will not see any significant development since whether or not the MPs perform, they still get elected on the ticket of the NDC.

“Some of the NDC MPs must be sacrificed for the NDC government to know that we are not absolute NDC members because NDC feels that whether they develop us or not we’ll vote for them,” he noted in an interview with Bolga FM.

In the last general elections, NDC won all the fifteen parliamentary seats in the region, recapturing a single seat the New Patriotic Party(NPP) had won in 2020. This Naab Namoog described as the region putting all its eggs in one basket.

He further argued that the region cannot purport to hold the NPP accountable since it does not vote for it.

He wants the region to emulate the other regions of the north that vote for both the NDC and NPP so as to put the engender development in the region.
