Petrol Drops To GHc16.38 Diesel Rises To GHc18.48 As OMCs Adjust Pump Prices
Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have started adjusting pump prices for the first pricing window of November, with petrol recording a reduction while diesel prices have gone up.Joy Business / MyJoyOnline report (2 November 2026); COMAC projections.
Star Oil led the changes over the weekend, cutting its petrol price from GH¢16.45 to GH¢16.38 per litre. At the same time, the company raised its diesel price from GH¢17.95 to GH¢18.45 per litre.
Other major retailers have indicated they will review their prices later this week. Actual pump prices are expected to vary slightly among the different companies.
The adjustments follow projections by the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC) for the November 1 to 15 pricing window. The chamber had forecast a possible reduction of up to 3.35 percent in petrol prices and a 1.50 percent increase in diesel prices.
According to market data, international petrol prices fell by nearly 5 percent during the review period, while diesel prices rose by about 3.5 percent. The cedi also strengthened modestly against the dollar, contributing to the mixed outlook at the pumps.
For consumers, the change means a slight saving on petrol. A motorist buying 50 litres of petrol at the new Star Oil rate will pay about GH¢3.50 less than before. On the other hand, the same quantity of diesel will cost an additional GH¢25.
Fuel prices in Ghana are reviewed every two weeks under the deregulated system. Oil marketing companies set their own pump prices based on international market movements, the exchange rate and other cost factors, while operating above the floors set by the National Petroleum Authority.
Motorists and commercial transport operators are advised to check prices at their preferred stations as the new rates take effect across the country.
