‘Keep Quiet If You Have Nothing Sensible to Say’ – Nana Aba Reacts to Javits’ Death

Ghanaian media personality Nana Aba Anamoah has condemned individuals making insensitive remarks about the death of 15-year-old Ghanaian boy Javits Frimpong, calling on the public to exercise compassion and respect towards his grieving family.

Speaking on Starr FM on Monday, November 2, 2026, Nana Aba expressed concern over how some people have reacted to the teenager’s tragic death, particularly those using the incident to ridicule the family and criticise decisions they made concerning his upbringing.

She urged the public to exercise restraint when discussing sensitive issues, stressing that people should refrain from making hurtful comments when they have nothing constructive to contribute.

The broadcaster described the tendency of some individuals to derive satisfaction from the suffering of others as disturbing, arguing that celebrating another person’s misfortune reflects a lack of compassion and humanity.

“Sometimes, you just need to keep quiet. Keep quiet if you have nothing to say. If you don’t have anything sensible to add to the conversation, just shut up. People have become sadists. We enjoy seeing others suffer, and it gives some people a certain kind of excitement,” she said.

She further criticised those who condemn others while displaying similar or worse behaviour through their reactions to personal tragedies.

Nana Aba also revealed that Javits’ death had deeply affected her, describing the loss of a child, particularly at such a young age, as an extremely painful experience for any family.

She emphasised the need for people to show empathy towards the bereaved family instead of adding to their pain through insensitive public commentary.

The media personality also questioned the criticism directed at the family over their decision to have the teenager travel to the United States.

She argued that individuals should respect the personal decisions of others, particularly regarding how they choose to spend their resources and the opportunities they seek to provide for their children.

Nana Aba maintained that people should not impose their personal opinions on the family or use the circumstances surrounding Javits’ death as an excuse to judge them during an already difficult period.
