Linda Mwananchi has declared its readiness to engage United Opposition leaders, saying it is no longer a political movement but a fully-fledged political party with a leader, an identity and a headquarters.
The movement’s Secretary-General and Suba South MP Caroli Omondi said the outfit had completed its transition into the Linda Mwananchi Movement Party (LMM), with Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna taking the leadership position.
Speaking during the official opening of the party’s headquarters in Lavington, Nairobi, on Friday, October 30, 2026, Omondi said the transition had given the outfit a formal political structure as it prepares to participate in the 2027 General Election.
“Today marks the end of the transformation of our movement into a political party. As we are here today, we are no longer a movement. We have become a political party: The Linda Mwananchi Movement Party (LMM),” he said.
He used the occasion to send a direct message to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, signalling the party’s willingness to explore political negotiations and partnerships ahead of the 2027 General Election.
“Rigathi Gachagua, Kalonzo Musyoka, we are now ready to do business. We have a name, we have an identity, we have a leader, we have a home,” Omondi said.
He said the party would be led by Sifuna, adding that the new headquarters would serve as its base for political organisation and mobilisation.
Omondi also outlined the party’s ideology, describing it as social market democracy anchored on three pillars: democratic governance, social justice and free enterprise.
He said the party would pursue governance guided by national values and promote a country that offers equal opportunities, with public policies serving the majority rather than a privileged few.
“We want a country that works for the many and not the few. We want a country that is inclusive. We want a country that affords equal opportunity to everybody,” he said.
On the economy, Omondi said the party believed the private sector was central to job creation and wealth creation but argued that ordinary Kenyans needed greater access to investment opportunities.
He cited Treasury Bills and government securities, saying citizens should be able to invest directly through their mobile phones instead of being locked out of lucrative financial opportunities.
“We will democratise access to wealth. We will enable the small person, from your phone, to buy Treasury Bills, to invest in government securities, so that you can make money through the Nairobi Stock Exchange,” he said.
Omondi also pledged to widen public participation in the ownership of government enterprises, saying ordinary Kenyans should have opportunities to acquire shares through the Nairobi Securities Exchange.
He said the party would soon release its manifesto, detailing how its ideological principles would be translated into policies and programmes.
He invited supporters to register as members and volunteers, while urging aspiring candidates to join the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
