SAD NEWS:Three Dead After Boda Boda Riders Torch Car Following Ngong Road Crash Near Talanta Stadium

Three people have died following a horrific road accident at Kenol Stage along Ngong Road in Nairobi, after a saloon car reportedly lost control and struck a woman waiting for public transport on Thursday, October 29, 2026.

The accident occurred at approximately 7:25 am near Raila Odinga International Stadium, popularly known as Talanta Stadium, when a dark blue vehicle travelling from the Ngong direction allegedly veered off the road.

Eyewitnesses said the car mounted the pavement before hitting a woman who was waiting for a matatu to Nairobi’s Central Business District. Two other people reportedly sustained injuries and were rushed to hospital.

The circumstances surrounding the victims’ deaths were still being established when the incident was reported.

The tragedy sparked commotion at the scene, with some boda boda riders reportedly setting the wrecked vehicle ablaze. Witnesses claimed the riders wanted to drive away what they considered bad omens associated with the fatal crash.

Photographs shared online showed the vehicle badly damaged and engulfed in flames as members of the public gathered to witness the aftermath and assist with rescue efforts.

Suspicion also arose over the possible cause of the accident after eyewitnesses alleged that police recovered two bottles of alcohol from the wreckage. However, the claims had not been independently verified, and authorities had not officially confirmed whether alcohol played any role.

The incident comes amid growing concern over road safety in Kenya, with pedestrians and passengers exposed to danger along busy highways and public transport stages.

National Transport and Safety Authority data showed that 3,995 people had died in road accidents between January 1 and October 4, 2026, averaging approximately 14 deaths daily.

The latest tragedy follows a separate collision along the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway on October 25 that claimed at least 22 lives, renewing calls for stronger enforcement of road safety regulations.
