MATCH REPORT: Ghana U-15 boys exit FIFA World Cup after losing on penalties to Paraguay in quarter-final
Ghana’s national U-15 boys team have been eliminated from the FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival in Azerbaijan after losing 7-6 on penalties to Paraguay in the quarter-final.
The game ended 2-2 after regulation time, with both teams fighting hard to secure a place in the semi-final before the South Americans prevailed in the shootout.
The Black Comets showed resilience to recover during the match and force the tie into penalties, but their efforts were not enough to keep their impressive campaign alive.
The defeat brings an end to a tournament run in which the young Ghanaians recorded seven consecutive victories before facing Paraguay in the last eight.
Their knockout-stage successes included a 2-1 win over Korea Republic and a commanding 5-2 victory against Mexico, results that underlined their attacking strength.
Ghana had earlier topped Group W with a perfect record and finished the competition with 34 goals across eight matches at the FIFA Talent Development Scheme tournament, despite falling short of a semi-final place.
