NAPO Reportedly Remains Bawumia’s Preferred Running Mate for 2028 Despite Replacement Speculation

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as NAPO, is reportedly still the preferred choice of former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the running mate position ahead of the 2028 general elections.

The development comes amid growing discussions within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) about the possible candidates who could partner Dr. Bawumia as the party prepares for another attempt to win political power.

An Asante youth group has reportedly appealed to Dr. Bawumia to maintain NAPO as his running mate for 2028. The reported appeal highlights the interest of some party supporters in seeing the former education minister remain part of the leadership team.

Meanwhile, Dr. Nana Ayew Afriye’s name has featured in conversations about possible alternatives, although speculation about his potential selection has not been officially confirmed.
