Fuliza Ya Pochi: Who Qualifies and How Merchants Can Check Their Credit Limits
Safaricom’s Fuliza Ya Pochi credit facility has reached more than one million eligible Pochi La Biashara merchants just days after its launch on October 22, 2026.
The telecommunications company announced the milestone on Thursday, October 29, saying the service expands access to short-term credit for small businesses across Kenya.
Safaricom said the facility marks another stage in Fuliza’s growth, extending the service from personal borrowing to Lipa na M-PESA transactions and now to micro-enterprises.
Fuliza Ya Pochi allows eligible traders to access credit when their available business funds are insufficient to cover immediate expenses. The money can help them restock goods, pay suppliers and settle urgent bills.
Under the arrangement, repayments are deducted from incoming customer transactions made through Pochi La Biashara.
This means merchants repay their outstanding balances as customers send money to their business accounts. The facility is intended to help traders manage temporary cash shortages while keeping daily operations running.
To qualify, merchants must have used Pochi La Biashara for at least six months and meet Safaricom’s other eligibility requirements.
Eligible merchants can check their credit limits through the Pochi Mini App on My OneApp or by dialling *334#.
The service targets small businesses that depend on daily sales to purchase stock, pay suppliers and meet operating expenses.
However, merchants should check the applicable fees, credit limits and repayment terms before borrowing. Since repayments are deducted from incoming business transactions, the deductions may reduce the money available for other expenses.
