Ruto Makes Major Announcement About ROIS as He Highlights Kenya’s Stadium Milestone

President William Ruto has highlighted the construction of the Raila Odinga International Stadium (ROIS), describing it as a major milestone in Kenya’s sports infrastructure.

Speaking about the project, Ruto said the stadium was the first international stadium built by Kenya since the construction of Kasarani Stadium in 1987.

“This is Kenya’s first International Stadium Kenya has built since Kasarani in 1987,” Ruto stated.

His remarks have drawn attention to the government’s efforts to expand the country’s sports facilities and provide modern venues for football and other major sporting events.

The development of ROIS is expected to strengthen Kenya’s capacity to host international competitions, while creating more opportunities for athletes, sports officials and fans.

The stadium also carries the name of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, reflecting his legacy in Kenyan public life.

Ruto’s statement places the project among the country’s significant investments in sports infrastructure, as Kenya continues to pursue opportunities to host major regional and international tournaments.

The stadium’s completion and readiness for use will be important in determining the events it can accommodate and the role it will play in the growth of Kenyan sports.
