Today’s Headlines: Tinubu Will Return to Aso Rock — Kwankwaso; Obama Blasts Trump Over Iran War

A member of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Dr Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso, has declared that the North-West has made its choice for the 2027 presidential election, insisting that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will return to Aso Rock.

Kwankwaso spoke against the backdrop of the massive turnout and endorsement of Tinubu at the formal kick-off of the APC Presidential Campaign in Kaduna, describing the gathering as a decisive demonstration of northern support for the President ahead of the 2027 poll.

Speaking to newsmen on the sidelines of the VIP Pavilion, the APC campaign council member said the Kaduna rally had effectively dispelled lingering doubts over where the North stood in the unfolding presidential contest.

“Today, we of the North-West geopolitical zone have spoken loud and clear on who we stand for. Our choice of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains our commitment to a better Nigeria and national cohesion,” Kwankwaso said.

Former US president Barack Obama delivered scathing criticisms of current leader Donald Trump at rallies Saturday in Ohio and Michigan to support Democratic candidates ahead of the November 3 midterm elections.

Democrats are attempting to wrest back control of one or both chambers of the US Congress, which are currently controlled by Trump’s Republican party.

Obama retains considerable popularity among the Democratic base, which he is keen to leverage to support his party’s candidates.

In both states, the 65-year-old former president blamed the Trump administration for the rising cost of living, a top voter concern.

Michael Carrick said he will do what is best for Manchester United after a 3-0 demolition by Bournemouth plunged his future as manager into doubt on Sunday.

Winless in eight games in all competitions, the 20-time English champions slipped to within one point of the relegation zone after a damaging defeat at Old Trafford.

“It’s a tough situation,” Carrick told Sky Sports. “What is next? I don’t know.

“I’ll always do what’s best for this football club. I’ve said it all along, I don’t change that now. I love what I do. I love the responsibility, but we’ll have to wait and see.”

Despite a dismal run of results, the United fans largely supported Carrick as he made his way off the field at full-time before they turned on the club’s players.

Akwa Ibom State Government says the transport sector has recorded ₦14 million weekly from daily electronic sales of tickets to keke riders and minibus drivers operating within the Uyo metropolis, which has improved the state’s Internally Generated Revenue.

The Commissioner for Transport, Dr Anthony Luke, explained this on Saturday to journalists in Uyo, the state capital, adding that the increase in revenue was one of the achievements of Governor Umo Eno in the transport sector in the last three years.

According to the Commissioner, the ministry sells 100,946 e-tickets to tricycle and minibus drivers at the rate of ₦200 and ₦300, respectively, before 9 am daily.
