“We’ll Not Have Ebola Billionaires Like What Happened With COVID” Ruto’s CS Assures
Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has issued a stern warning against procurement malpractices, assuring the nation that the government will prevent corrupt individuals from exploiting the current Ebola threat for financial gain.
Speaking publicly on Friday, October 23, 2026, the Cabinet Secretary stressed that under his leadership, the Ministry of Health will enforce total transparency and eliminate tender manipulation.
Reflecting on past national health crises, CS Duale condemned the emergence of self-interested contractors who enriched themselves during the COVID-19 pandemic through fraudulent tenders while families across Kenya lost loved ones.
He shared personal grief, noting that he lost his own mother during the pandemic, which fuels his personal commitment to safeguarding public resources and ensuring every single shilling directly supports healthcare systems.
Addressing prospective suppliers attempting to seek irregular procurement opportunities, the Health CS strictly cautioned individuals against lingering around the Afya House headquarters in search of non-existent tenders.
He explicitly refuted media reports claiming the government had mobilized a Ksh70 billion Ebola response fund alongside international partners, declaring those reports false and warning against speculative procurement ventures.
Meanwhile, health authorities continue to manage contacts identified during response efforts, with the Ministry confirming that initial contacts placed under mandatory quarantine will be released after successfully completing their monitoring period in good health.
Duale reiterated that the government remains firmly focused on surveillance, patient care, and disease containment rather than private wealth creation.
