Heated Debate As Gideon Moi Exposes What Ruto Did In 2025 Election, Seeks Forgiveness From Kalenjin
KANU chairman Gideon Moi has appealed to residents of Baringo County to forgive him for withdrawing from the November 2025 senatorial by-election, a decision that disappointed some of his supporters.
Moi had been preparing to contest the seat before stepping aside following discussions with President William Ruto. He later explained that he trusted the President’s promise to ensure stalled development projects in Baringo were completed.
The former senator said his decision was motivated by the need to see unfinished projects, particularly roads and water initiatives, completed for the benefit of local residents.
His withdrawal sparked political debate, with many supporters questioning why he abandoned the race despite expectations that he would return to the Senate.
President Ruto subsequently confirmed that he had personally requested Moi to withdraw from the contest, describing the move as part of efforts to promote political unity.
The development also signalled closer relations between KANU and Ruto’s political camp after years of political rivalry.
However, the arrangement continues to attract scrutiny as leaders begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Moi’s latest appeal has renewed attention on his political relationship with Baringo residents, particularly whether the development promises that influenced his decision will be fulfilled.
The completion of stalled projects remains a key concern among residents, while Moi’s next political move could shape KANU’s influence in the Rift Valley ahead of the upcoming elections.
