I Have No Problem Whatsoever With Malam Nasir El-Rufai, He Is My Elder Brother- Ashiru

According to a report by Daily Post on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in Kaduna State, Isa Mohammed Ashiru, has accused Governor Uba Sani of orchestrating the circumstances that have led to the current troubles facing former governor Nasir El-Rufai.

Ashiru made the allegation during an interview with DCL Hausa, where he spoke about his relationship with the former governor and the ongoing situation surrounding him.

The ADC candidate maintained that he had no personal issues with El-Rufai, describing the former Kaduna governor as his elder brother.

He also insisted that Governor Uba Sani was responsible for the challenges El-Rufai is currently facing.

According to Ashiru, his position on the matter was clear, stressing that he had no disagreement with El-Rufai despite the political developments surrounding the former governor.

“I have no problem whatsoever with Malam Nasir El-Rufai. He is my elder brother,” Ashiru said.

He further accused the incumbent governor of playing a central role in the circumstances that have placed El-Rufai in his present predicament.

“I want to reiterate that it was Governor Uba Sani who orchestrated the situation El-Rufai currently finds himself in,” he added.

El-Rufai, who governed Kaduna State from 2015 to 2023, has been in the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) since February 2026.

His detention followed investigations into allegations of financial misconduct. However, the allegations remain subject to the relevant investigative and legal processes.

Ashiru’s comments come amid political developments in Kaduna State involving prominent political figures and the relationship between the state’s current and former administrations.

His remarks also highlight the continuing political tensions surrounding El-Rufai’s circumstances and the question of responsibility for the challenges confronting the former governor.

While Ashiru has directly blamed Uba Sani for El-Rufai’s predicament, his allegation represents his position on the matter.
