GTA 6 Fans Believe Rockstar Has Been Hiding A Major Ending Spoiler In Plain Sight

Rockstar Games"GTA 6" is the most highly-anticipated video game in history, which means fans were always going to pore over every single update from Rockstar Games no matter how small. So far, those fans have theorized themselves into oblivion, suggesting that "GTA 6" protagonist Jason Duval is actually an undercover cop and that Rockstar has several other plot twists up its sleeve. Now, we have a new theory which suggests the developer has, with a single screenshot, spoiled at least one of the endings to the game.

"GTA 6" will allow players to switch between Jason and Lucia Caminos, with Rockstar promising a "Bonnie and Clyde"-style storyline that's heavily influenced by the infamous outlaw couple's criminal rampage. Netflix's "GTA: An Extended Look" special provided a glimpse at just how the couple's Vice City escapade will play out, showcasing how the pair work their way up from low-level drug deals and liquor store robberies to running security for an insufferable entrepreneur. It's likely their story goes beyond that, and we may see Jason and Lucia ascend to even greater criminal heights.

But some fans are convinced the whole thing could end in tragedy, based solely on a single screenshot. Over on Reddit, user reecehall989 posted an official in-game image from Rockstar and suggested it reveals one of the game's possible endings. The shot shows Jason and Lucia embracing while surrounded by law enforcement in what is, presumably, the conclusion of a chase or some grand stand-off. Does this image reveal a potentially tragic end to Jason and Lucia's story? Many fans seem to think so.

Reddit has correctly predicted multiple "GTA 6" features, but have Redditors also identified one of the game's endings? The image in question (seen above) certainly depicts a tumultuous moment, with Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos surrounded by police officers on airboats and in helicopters, some of whom have their guns trained on the couple. In the foreground, Jason and Lucia embrace as if reconciled to the fact this is the end of the line, à la the titular duo in 1967's "Bonnie and Clyde." In that film's final moments, Warren Beatty's Clyde Barrow and Faye Dunaway's Bonnie Parker are gunned down after walking into a trap. Could this "GTA 6" image depict a similar situation?

Rupert Humphries, senior vice president of narrative at Rockstar Games, previously told Dazed magazine that "GTA 6" would tell "a Bonnie and Clyde-type narrative," so it would make sense for Jason and Lucia to wind up in a situation as depicted in the screenshot. Many Redditors seem convinced, while others have suggested that this could be one of many possible endings. Some speculate that the shot comes from a prologue, which makes sense as we know Lucia is in prison at the start of "GTA 6." Perhaps she took the fall for whatever is happening in this screenshot…

If the image does, in fact, depict the climax of "GTA 6," it will almost certainly be just one of many possible outcomes. Not only did "GTA 5" include three possible ways to conclude the narrative, but IGN has speculated (based on comments from Rockstar employees) that "GTA 6" will feature multiple endings to its main storyline. Even if this shot does show one of them, then, it would hardly ruin the entire game.

As "GTA 6" fan theories go, this certainly isn't the most far-fetched — though it would be surprising if Rockstar Games had spoiled a game 13 years in the making with an errant screenshot. It's more likely that the image either comes from a prologue explaining how Lucia went to prison, or depicts the climax of a mission that ends with the couple being arrested.

What does seem certain is that the image was taken during a mission rather than during a random crime spree. The fact that Jason and Lucia are holding each other suggests that this is a cutscene or at least a significant moment in the game. We do know "GTA 6" will allow players to hold hands and cultivate a relationship. It's one of the many in-depth mechanics Rockstar has added to their latest "GTA" installment, allowing players to either maintain a romantic connection between the protagonists or keep their relationship platonic. What we don't know is whether players can trigger the kind of embrace shown in the screenshot in question. It seems unlikely, and the way the shot is framed does hint at something more significant than an image captured on the fly.

The "Grand Theft Auto" series has caused plenty of real-life controversies, but Rockstar spoiling the grand finale of the biggest video game in history would surely be the most outrageous yet. At the time of writing, the screenshot is still available on the official Rockstar site, and it seems unlikely for it to remain available if it does contain significant spoilers. But we'll have to wait until November 19, 2026 when the game finally arrives to play through and find out how Lucia and Jason's story ends.
