Miguna Miguna Makes Fresh Claims About Ida Odinga’s Role During Raila’s Final Days

Lawyer and political commentator Miguna Miguna has made fresh allegations about Mama Ida Odinga’s involvement in caring for her late husband,former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, during the final months of his life.

Miguna claims that Raila’s final days were largely managed by personal bodyguards,nurses,doctors and other caregivers,alleging that Ida did not personally assist him with basic daily needs as his health declined.

According to the lawyer,the couple had spent months living separate lives before Raila’s death. He alleges that even when they were under the same roof,they rarely shared a bed or meals, raising questions about their relationship away from public events.

Miguna further claims that Ida did not help Raila change clothes,bathe or use the toilet during his final days.He also questioned her absence from several of the former Prime Minister’s medical trips abroad,including visits to hospitals in Dubai,South Africa,Germany and India.

The allegations come amid renewed public interest in Raila’s final days as Kenya marks the first anniversary of his death.The veteran politician died in India on October 15,2025,aged 80 while receiving medical care.

Raila’s longtime bodyguard,Maurice Ogeta has also shared accounts of the former Prime Minister’s final moments,explaining how his responsibilities extended beyond security to include driving and assisting with personal needs.

His account has drawn attention to the people who remained close to Raila during his final years.Ida has previously addressed questions about why she did not accompany her husband to India for his final medical trip.

In an interview ahead of the anniversary,she explained that she understood the journey to be for a routine check up and did not believe his condition was serious enough to require her presence.She maintained that she would have travelled with him had she known otherwise.

Miguna’s latest claims also extend beyond the couple’s private life to Raila’s political decisions.He alleges that Ida influenced some of the political compromises made by the former Prime Minister following disputed elections.

He has further made claims about the couple’s relationship and estate planning,although these allegations have not been independently established.

The claims have placed renewed attention on Ida’s account of the period surrounding her husband’s final illness and the people who assisted him while he received treatment abroad.
