I Love Facing Players Like Vitinha, It’s A Chance To Test Yourself Against The Best –Pedri

According to a post by Fabrizio Romano on X on Monday, October 19, 2026, Barcelona midfielder Pedri has spoken highly of Paris Saint-Germain star Vitinha, praising his exceptional ability to control possession and dictate the rhythm of a match.

The Spain international described Vitinha as one of the finest players in world football when it comes to building attacks and retaining the ball, highlighting the Portuguese midfielder’s importance to PSG’s playing style.

“Vitinha? He’s a truly special player, one of the best, if not the best, when it comes to creating play and keeping possession,” Pedri said.

Pedri’s comments reflect his admiration for midfielders who can influence matches through their technical quality, composure and ability to control the tempo. Vitinha has become an important figure in PSG’s midfield, helping the French side maintain possession and create opportunities through intricate passing combinations.

The Barcelona midfielder also pointed out how significantly PSG can feel Vitinha’s absence, underlining the influence he has on the team’s overall performance.

“He brings so much to PSG with the ball, and when he’s not there, you really notice his absence,” he added.

Beyond acknowledging Vitinha’s qualities, Pedri expressed his enthusiasm about facing players of such high calibre. The Barcelona star views these encounters as valuable opportunities to challenge himself against elite opponents and assess his own level.

“I love facing players like him. It’s a chance to test yourself against the best,” Pedri explained.

The praise highlights the mutual respect between two technically gifted midfielders who play important roles in their respective teams’ possession-based approaches. Both are known for their ability to retain the ball, link different areas of the pitch and help their sides control matches.

With Barcelona and PSG preparing to face each other in the Champions League, the midfield contest could prove particularly important. Vitinha will aim to maintain his influence in PSG’s build-up play, while Pedri will look to use his own creativity and composure to help Barcelona dictate proceedings.
