THe List Of New Fuel Prices as Kenyans are Now Expected to Dig Deeper Into Their Pockets
Kenyan motorists and households are bracing for another fuel-price shock after the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) announced sharp increases across all three major petroleum products.
In Nairobi, a litre of Super Petrol will now cost KSh226.96, up KSh12.93. Diesel has risen by KSh9.90 to KSh227.76 per litre, while kerosene has recorded the biggest jump, increasing by KSh28.49 to KSh219.87 per litre.
The new maximum retail prices take effect from October 15 to November 14, 2026, according to EPRA.
The regulator attributed the sharp increases partly to rising international petroleum costs. EPRA Director General Edward Kinyua said September had been particularly difficult amid continuing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, with the cost of imported petroleum products increasing significantly.
The impact is expected to extend beyond motorists. Higher diesel prices could increase transport and logistics costs, potentially putting additional pressure on the prices of goods and services. Households that rely on kerosene for cooking and lighting are also likely to feel the steepest impact.
EPRA also confirmed that the 8% VAT on petroleum products remains in place and has been extended until January 14, 2027.
With petrol, diesel and kerosene all recording substantial increases, Kenyans are once again facing the question: how much more will the latest fuel shock add to the cost of living?
