KSh 100? Good News for All Safaricom Users as Company CEO Announces This — Details

Safaricom has introduced a new investment option that allows Kenyans to start investing with just KSh 100, giving more people a chance to grow their savings using their mobile phones.

The new product, known as Ziidi Shari’ah Money Market Fund, was launched on October 6, 2026, through a partnership between Safaricom and GulfCap Investment Bank (GCIB).

The fund offers an investment option that follows Islamic finance principles, making it suitable for Muslim customers and other Kenyans who prefer investments that do not earn interest.

Customers can access the service through Safaricom’s My OneApp or by dialling *334# on their phones. The minimum amount required to begin investing is KSh 100, while additional deposits can be made from as little as KSh 10.

Safaricom Chief Executive Officer Peter Ndegwa said the product was designed to make financial services more accessible to customers with different needs and values.

The launch comes as mobile-based financial services continue to give Kenyans more ways to save and invest without visiting physical financial institutions.

Under the new arrangement, customers can monitor their daily profits, deposit money without charges and withdraw funds to their M-PESA wallets at no withdrawal cost. The service also provides an option to lock funds to encourage disciplined saving.

Unlike the conventional Ziidi Money Market Fund, the new product operates independently and follows Shari’ah principles. It invests in short-term, liquid financial instruments held in Shari’ah-compliant banks.

The fund is regulated by the Capital Markets Authority (CMA), while GulfCap Investment Bank’s Shari’ah Supervisory Board oversees compliance with Islamic finance requirements.

There is no maximum investment limit set by the fund, although normal M-PESA transaction limits apply. Customers can transact up to KSh 250,000 per transaction, subject to the daily limit of KSh 500,000.

However, Kenyans should remember that investment returns are not guaranteed and should review the fund’s terms before committing their money.

Would you consider investing KSh 100 through Safaricom’s new Ziidi Shari’ah fund?
