Is He Still Alive? Oga Obinna Breaks Silence on Oburu Odinga’s Death Rumours

Popular media personality Oga Obinna has finally spoken out on the swirling online rumours surrounding the health of ODM Party Leader and Siaya Senator Oburu Odinga.

In a video shared on 12 October 2026, Obinna openly questioned Oburu’s whereabouts and current condition, saying he strongly believes the veteran politician may no longer be around. While expressing hope that Oburu is doing well, the content creator wondered aloud who would take over leadership of the Orange Democratic Movement if the senior statesman is indeed not present.

The remarks come weeks after false claims of Oburu’s death circulated widely on social media. Those reports were firmly dismissed by the Office of the ODM Party Leader as “malicious, unfounded fake news and propaganda.”

Officials insisted that Oburu was alive, safe, and in good spirits, though doctors had advised him to rest and limit heavy physical engagements after medical treatment.

Oburu, the elder brother of the late Raila Odinga, had been admitted to Nairobi Hospital in early October for check-ups related to a chronic condition following treatment abroad. His reduced public appearances, including missing the handover of Raila’s mausoleum, fuelled further speculation.

ODM National Chairperson Gladys Wanga and other party officials have repeatedly assured supporters that Oburu is recovering steadily. As of 13 October, the party’s Secretary General indicated he could be discharged soon.

Obinna’s comments have added fresh fuel to the conversation about the health of senior political figures and succession within ODM at a sensitive time for the party.
