El-Rufai Has Been Denied His Freedom For The Past 8 Months Because Tyrants Are Afraid Of Him -Imam
In a recent video shared on Symfoni TV on Saturday, October 10, 2026, Kashim Ibrahim Imam, Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential Campaign Council, spoke about the continued detention of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai and the political situation ahead of the 2027 general election.
Imam made the remarks during the inauguration of the ADC Presidential Campaign Council, which brought together party leaders, campaign officials and supporters to discuss the party’s preparations for the forthcoming presidential election.
During his address, Imam expressed concern over El-Rufai’s absence from the gathering and described him as a political figure whose continued detention raised questions about the treatment of opposition leaders in the country.
According to Imam, βNasir El-Rufai has been denied his freedom for the past eight months because tyrants are afraid of him.β His statement reflected his criticism of the circumstances surrounding the former governor’s detention and the implications for political participation.
Imam also used the occasion to express confidence in the ADC’s chances of defeating the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 presidential election. He said the opposition party was preparing for an intensive campaign aimed at convincing Nigerians that it could provide a credible alternative to the current administration.
He urged members of the Presidential Campaign Council to remain committed to their responsibilities, stressing that their assignment involved mobilising supporters and presenting the party’s message across the country.
The campaign chairman also emphasised the importance of addressing issues affecting ordinary Nigerians, including the rising cost of living, insecurity, unemployment and economic hardship. He maintained that the opposition needed to focus on the concerns of citizens rather than allow internal disagreements to distract it from its electoral objectives.
He concluded that the ADC would continue its preparations for the 2027 election while working towards victory and defending democratic principles.
