A Pastor in SA Who Allegedly Raped SA Woman, Then Killed Her Baby Reportedly On The Run

Police in Gauteng are searching for a pastor linked to an investigation into the alleged rape of a 43-year-old woman and the killing of her four-month-old baby. The disturbing incident, reported near the Hennops River and the R511 road, has prompted a police operation and widespread condemnation.

According to preliminary police information, the woman travelled to the riverside location with the pastor and his 24-year-old wife on Wednesday, 7 October 2026. The visit was reportedly arranged for a spiritual ritual. Once they arrived, the pastor’s wife stayed with the infant while the pastor and the mother walked towards the river.

Investigators say the woman was allegedly sexually assaulted and restrained during the encounter. Despite the circumstances, she managed to free herself and reach a nearby construction site, where she appealed for assistance. A private security company was contacted, and police were subsequently informed about the attack and the disappearance of her baby.

Officers organised a coordinated search involving detectives, crime-scene specialists, search-and-rescue personnel and investigators specialising in offences against women and children. Drone operators were also deployed as authorities worked to locate the missing infant and establish what had happened to those who accompanied the mother.

The investigation took a tragic turn when police located the pastor’s wife and questioned her. Authorities say she directed them to a shallow grave containing the baby’s body. The discovery confirmed the mother’s worst fears and shifted the investigation towards the circumstances surrounding the infant’s death.

Gauteng authorities have opened cases of rape, kidnapping and murder. The pastor remains the subject of a manhunt, while the provincial government has reported that his wife was arrested. Investigators have not publicly established every detail of the child’s death, and the allegations against the pastor remain matters for police investigation and potential court proceedings.

Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi condemned the incident and offered condolences to the bereaved mother and her family. He also supported the police response and urged anyone with useful information to help investigators find the suspect. The case has drawn renewed attention to violence against women and children and to the severe harm that can arise when positions of spiritual trust are allegedly abused.

For now, the search continues as authorities pursue answers about the attack, the baby’s death and the roles of those involved. Police have urged members of the public with credible information to come forward rather than spread unverified claims online.
