Rocky Dawuni handing over an award plaque to a winner
The 6th edition of the Ghana Tertiary Excellence Awards (GTEA) brought together students, industry players, entertainment personalities, educators, campus ambassadors and distinguished guests for a memorable night dedicated to recognising and inspiring young people.
One of the biggest highlights of GTEA 2026 was the presence of Grammy-nominated global icon and “Voice of Africa,” Rocky Dawuni, who graced the occasion as Special Guest of Honour.
His presence brought an important international dimension to the celebration and further demonstrated the growing relevance of GTEA as a platform for young people. Rocky Dawuni did not only attend the event; he took time to speak to and encourage the students.
The event also welcomed Ghanaian living legend Dela Botri, who shared valuable advice and words of encouragement with the students. His contribution further reinforced the importance of developing one’s talent, believing in oneself and using one’s abilities to create a positive impact.
According to the CEO of GTEA, Destiny Riverson Bentil, the presence of these distinguished personalities made GTEA 2026 much more than an awards ceremony. “It became a platform for mentorship, inspiration, networking, youth empowerment and the celebration of student achievement. We like to express our deepest appreciation to everyone who contributed to the success of this year’s edition,” he said.
Destiny Riverson Bentil also extended a heartfelt appreciation to the Acting President, Reverend Awini Williams, for his leadership, support and contribution to the success of GTEA 2026 and the Campus Ambassadors, whose dedication, hard work and commitment across various tertiary institutions played a significant role in making the 2026 edition successful.
“Congratulations to all the GTEA 2026 winners. The success of GTEA 2026 is a reflection of what can be achieved when individuals and organisations come together to support and celebrate the potential of Ghana’s youth. As the curtains close on the 6th edition, the Ghana Tertiary Excellence Awards remains committed to its mission of identifying, celebrating and empowering outstanding young people across Ghana’s tertiary institutions,” he added.
