In Ghana, Salem Mustapha has withdrawn his candidacy from the election for the position of national organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He explained the decision by circumstances beyond his control.
Letter to the electoral committee
Mustapha announced his withdrawal from the race in a letter to the chair of the NPP National Officers Elections Committee on Wednesday, 9 September. MyJoyOnline reports.
According to the politician, it was a difficult decision given the support, encouragement and goodwill he had received from party members, delegates, colleagues and supporters across the country. Mustapha did not specify which circumstances led to his decision.

Continued support for the party
Despite withdrawing his candidacy, Mustapha said he remains committed to the NPP. He stated that he would continue working for the party’s unity, its renewal and electoral success, as well as supporting Mahamudu Bawumia’s ambition to become Ghana’s next president.
The politician called on supporters to treat his decision with understanding and focus on the broader interests of the party. He wished the NPP and other candidates success in the internal elections.
The NPP is preparing for the election of national officers. The position of national organiser is one of the key posts in this race, which is taking place as part of the party’s preparations for the 2028 general election.
