Jordan Ayew was named on the Sheffield United bench for their Championship clash against Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park on Tuesday night, shortly after completing his move to the club.

The Ghana international was included among the substitutes by manager Chris Wilder following his arrival as a free agent on a one-year contract.

Ayew joined Sheffield United after leaving Leicester City at the end of last season and was immediately included in the matchday squad for the trip to Blackburn.

He was joined on the bench by Patrick Bamford, Jaïro Riedewald and several other first-team players as Wilder made three changes to his starting lineup.

Ayew did not feature in the game as Sheffield United secured their first away victory of the Championship season with a 2-1 comeback win.

Blackburn took the lead through Kristi Montgomery, but Tom Cannon and Sydie Peck scored before half-time to turn the game in Sheffield United’s favour.

The result gave the Blades three points on the road, while Ayew will now wait for his opportunity to make his debut for his new club.

The 34-year-old brings extensive experience to Wilder’s squad, having played for Marseille, Sochaux, Lorient, Aston Villa, Swansea City, Crystal Palace and Leicester City.

Ayew also captained Ghana at the 2026 World Cup before completing his move to Sheffield United.
