South Africa beat Zimbabwe in cricket tri-series final

South Africa’s national cricket team defeated Zimbabwe by 48 runs in the tri-series final held in Windhoek, Namibia. The South African side, which rested most of its regular players, scored 205 runs for five wickets in 20 overs, while their opponents replied with 157 runs and lost all their wickets in 18 overs, TimesLIVE reports.

South Africa’s strong start

Opener Jordan Hermann was South Africa’s top scorer with 53 runs from 29 balls. Together with Connor Esterhuizen, who scored 32 runs from 23 balls, he put on an opening partnership of 84 runs from 47 balls.

For South Africa, Dewald Brevis also contributed 32 runs from 23 balls, while Rubin Hermann, Jordan Hermann’s brother, scored 27 runs from 16 balls.

Zimbabwe’s chase begins

Chasing a target of 206 runs, Zimbabwe quickly lost four wickets with 24 runs on the board. Their top scorer was Brad Evans, who remained unbeaten on 56 runs from 31 balls.

Spinner Bjorn Fortuin took three wickets for 24 runs in four overs. Duan Jansen also claimed three wickets, conceding 38 runs in three overs. Tournament hosts Namibia were the third team in the tri-series but did not reach the final.
