Former Asante Kotoko forward, Obed Owusu believes the Porcupine Warriors can bounce back in the just started Ghana Premier League following their victory over rivals Accra Hearts of Oak in this year’s Democracy Cup.

Owusu believes Asante Kotoko’s technical team has what it takes to guide the club to a successful campaign, while praising the work being done by the Sporting Director and head coach Eric Tinkler.

The former striker also applauded the club for the signings made during the transfer window, particularly the return of former captains Danlad Ibrahim and Richard Boadu Agadas.

“With what I am seeing now from the technical side, I can say that the Sporting Director is working, as well as the coach. They are yet to play another competitive game, but beating Hearts of Oak gives them the confidence that they still have the chance to bounce back.

“I believe in the manager. The signings and the inclusion of two former captains, Danlad Ibrahim and Richard Boadu Agadas, also show that they have picked quality players,” he told Accra-based Mothers 102.7FM.

Owusu added that he would not be surprised to see the Porcupine Warriors return to their best, insisting that their resurgence would add excitement to the Ghana Premier League.

“I won’t be surprised if they bounce back. They need to come back because they are the biggest club in the country, and the excitement of the league will be high if they bounce back,” he added.

Obed Owusu boasts a rich footballing history in Ghana, having played for clubs including Okwahu United, All Blacks, Berekum Chelsea and Asante Kotoko before moving abroad in search of new opportunities.

He currently works with his former club Berekum Chelsea as part of the club’s technical team.
