The Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Mahama Ayariga, has assured President John Dramani Mahama that he and the Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, will work diligently to deliver on the government’s commitments to Ghanaians.

Ayariga gave the assurance on Saturday, August 29, 2026, during the swearing-in ceremony for the two ministers at the Jubilee House.

The ceremony formally marked the beginning of their tenure after Parliament unanimously approved their nominations following their vetting by the Appointments Committee on Thursday, August 27.

Addressing President Mahama after the administration of the constitutional oaths, Ayariga said the two ministers had carefully listened to the President’s expectations and understood the responsibility that came with their appointments.

He assured the President that they would follow his directives and work towards fulfilling the commitments made to Ghanaians during the 2024 election campaign.

“I want to assure you that we have listened carefully to your indication as to exactly what you expect of us as ministers of state and how you expect us to execute the assignment. I want to assure you that we will do exactly that.

“We will work to realise the commitments that you made to Ghanaians in your promise to reset the country when you campaigned in 2024.

“Your style of governance and your style of relating to the ordinary Ghanaian are going to be our guiding post as to how we conduct ourselves, and I want to assure you that as your ministers, we will continue to take guidance from you and your vice president regarding how we conduct our business.”
