Former Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources, Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, has officially handed over the administration of the Works and Housing portfolio to incoming Minister Ahmed Ibrahim.

Speaking at the handing-over ceremony on Tuesday, August 25, Ahmed Ibrahim pledged to build on the work of his predecessor and ensure the completion of ongoing projects initiated under the previous administration.

He said he had already engaged former ministers of the sector to draw on their experience and expertise as he prepares to deliver on the mandate entrusted to him.

Mr Ibrahim also raised concerns about what he described as the politicisation of Ghana’s housing sector, arguing that partisan interests have hindered efforts to address the country’s persistent housing deficit.

“The country is too partisan and too selfish. We need to eschew this, come together and bury ourselves in the vision of the President. We will finish what is uncompleted and initiate new projects,” he said.

However, former Minister Kenneth Gilbert Adjei urged his successor to build on the progress made under his tenure while bringing fresh ideas to address the challenges confronting the built environment.

He expressed confidence that Mr Ibrahim would leverage the foundation already established and work with relevant stakeholders to advance development in the Works and Housing sector.
