Kwesi Botchway Jnr is a member of NPP Communications Team
Private legal practitioner and member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) communications team, Kwesi Botchway Jnr, has accused the government of using the Office of the Special Prosecutor’s (OSP) investigations and prosecutions under the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) initiative as a tool to target political opponents.
According to him, ORAL has been reduced to an instrument of political convenience rather than a genuine mechanism for fighting corruption and recovering state resources.

Speaking on The Pulse on JoyNews, monitored by GhanaWeb on August 20, 2026, he argued that the approach adopted in some of the prosecutions suggests that political considerations are influencing how cases are pursued.
“I don’t think that ORAL is really doing anything. ORAL is struggling. I think that ORAL is only a tool for political convenience and just a tool to hound political opponents,” he said.
Botchway also questioned the government’s approach to the case involving former Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) Chief Executive Officer, Sedina Christine Tamakloe-Attionu.
He suggested that the handling of her case raised questions about whether the government’s position was driven by legal considerations or political pressure.
“The entire Sadinam Tamakulu and the desire of the government to contest her acquittal and discharge, I see it as a political charade, I see it as something that they are just doing to reduce the uproar that was associated with the woman’s acquittal and discharge,” he added.
ORAL is an anti-corruption initiative and task force established by the John Dramani Mahama-led administration to investigate financial malfeasance, recover stolen state funds, and enforce accountability within the public sector.
