The Government of Ghana has paid GH¢10.8 billion to bondholders under the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP).

The Ministry of Finance, in a press release issued on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, indicated that GH¢10,816,840,318.26 was paid in full and in cash.

According to the Ministry, the latest payment brings the total amount paid to bondholders since 2025 to GH¢41.36 billion.

It added that this is the third DDEP coupon payment made entirely in cash and was settled on schedule.

The Ministry of Finance described the payment as a demonstration of the government’s commitment to meeting its debt obligations.

It noted that timely payment of the coupons is expected to strengthen investor confidence, reduce the risk of Ghana defaulting on its debts and improve the country’s financial credibility.

The Ministry further assured bondholders, investors and the general public that future obligations under the DDEP would also be paid in full and on schedule.
