Ladies of the Fellowship (LoTF) of the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International (FGBMFI), through its Hospital Ministry, has, over the last seven years, paid a total of GH¢303,100 to rescue female patients who had been detained at various hospitals in Accra.

The women, mostly new mothers, were on detention at Korle-Bu Maternity Ward, Greater Accra Regional Hospital, Chronic Disease Ward of 37 Military Hospital and the Police Hospital.

Disclosing this to the media at a briefing in Accra, Mrs. Philomena Anokwafo, Team Lead of the Hospital Ministry, said besides the bills payment, GH¢80,000 was also disbursed on non-maternity issues through donations in cash and in kind, including baby diapers, detergents, tissues and other essentials were distributed to the patients, in addition to spiritual support.

She said the Fellowship organised medical outreaches during which many health professionals were brought together to attend to the needs of the people living in the community. Thus far, a total of six polyclinics have benefited in these outreaches.

As many as 64 medical doctors with specialisations in ENT, Dentistry, Surgery, Physiotherapy and Obstetrics and Gynecology were deployed, in addition to Physician Assistants, Nurses, Public Health Nurses, Laboratory Technicians, Pharmacists, Nutritionists, a Dietician and a Clinical Psychologist.

While waiting to see the doctor, each person saw a counsellor, mostly FGBMFI members, for one-on-one sessions. In all, 254 people were attended to.

Mrs. Anokwafo said this was FGBMFI Ghana’s way of demonstrating God’s love through tangible acts of charity.

She paid tribute to the leadership of the Ladies of the Fellowship, singling out Mrs. Mathilda Amissah-Arthur, former Second Lady, and acknowledged the backing of the National Executive Committee of the parent FGBMFI, led by Mr. Emmanuel Baba Mahama, the National President.
