With the 2026/27 English Premier League season officially set to kick off this weekend, there have been plenty of big money transfers already confirmed by the top clubs.

The summer transfer window opened on June 15 and will remain so until September 1, and we will keep a close look out for all major developments here.

With more than £800 million already committed to the ten biggest deals alone, the 2026 summer window has once again demonstrated the extraordinary financial power of English football.

Arsenal, who won their first PL title in 22 years, have been active during the transfer period and stated their intent by bagging their first piece of silverware for the season.

The Gunners comfortably beat Enzo Maresca’s Manchester City 3-0 in the FA Community Shield in Cardiff last Sunday. This confirms that we can look forward to yet another enthralling season of English topflight football.

Newcomers Christos Tzolis and Piero Hincapie both featured for Mikel Arteta’s side, as well as another huge transfer from a fellow English Premier League side.

Chelsea remain one of the most active clubs in the transfer market, with a couple of big-name signings this window.

The Blues are continuing to assemble a squad containing a mixture of established Premier League players and young talent, with the challenge of turning that individual quality into consistency.

We have a look at the ten biggest summer transfers by Premier League clubs here as far as August 18. Any major transfer news between now and deadline day will be updated here as well.

Morgan Rogers (Aston Villa to Chelsea) – £117 million

Chelsea have made Morgan Rogers the most expensive Premier League signing of the summer so far, paying Aston Villa a reported £117 million for the England international.

The Blues have made a couple other new additions to their squad under new manager Xabi Alonso, though Rogers is the statement signing so far.

After a dismal campaign that saw them finish in 10th place with their lowest point-tally in over two decades, there is a desperate need to turn things around at Stamford Bridge.

The England international had 10 goals and six assists for Villa last season and will be a great addition to the squad, alongside his lifelong friend Cole Palmer.

Elliott Anderson (Nottingham Forest to Manchester City) – £116 million

One of Maresca’s first moves as City manager was to bring in Elliot Anderson after the British midfielder had an exemplary season with Nottingham.

Despite only four goals and as many assists last season, his ball-carrying skills, ability to control proceedings in midfield and tackling has made him one of the most expensive British players ever.

It will be interesting to see the shape that City take as they begin life after Pep Guardiola, with the pressure falling on their new manager to keep them at the top.

Sandro Tonali (Newcastle United to Tottenham Hotspur) –  £100 million

Tottenham barely survived relegation to the Championship last season, finishing in 17th place just two points above the drop zone.

Spurs have responded triumphantly to that poor finish by being very active over the summer transfer window, especially by bringing in Tonali from Newcastle.

From the seven new faces that have joined Tottenham, Tonali is the most expensive and brings with him plenty of football prowess.

The diminutive midfielder failed to score a PL goal last season but had five in other competitions, as well as seven assists.

Spurs also notably acquired the services of Liverpool’s Andy Robertson and Bournemouth’s Marco Senesi for free.

Mateus Fernandes (West Ham to Tottenham Hotspur) – £85 million

This is yet another huge move by Spurs, which provides manager Roberto De Zerbi with yet another explosive midfield option available.

Fernandes displayed considerably great performances last season despite his side being relegated to the Championship at the end of it all.

The 22-year old Portuguese midfielder registered three goals and four assists in 36 appearances for the Hammers.

Bruno Guimarães – (Newcastle United to Arsenal) – £75 million

Arsenal have arguably made one of the most strategically important signings of the summer by bringing Bruno Guimarães to the Emirates.

The Brazilian midfielder arrives with extensive Premier League experience and immediately adds quality, physicality and leadership to Mikel Arteta’s midfield.

His ability to win possession, progress the ball and control the tempo should make Arsenal even more difficult to play against.

Guimaraes was responsible for plenty of Newcastle’s achievements last season. He reached double figures on both counts with 10 goals and 11 assists throughout the campaign.

Jeremy Jacquet – (Rennes to Liverpool) – £60 million

Liverpool have invested heavily onFrench defender Jeremy Jacquet as part of a major restructuring of their defence. This comes after regulars such as Ibrahima Konate and Andy Robertson left the club.

Jacquet is considered one of France’s promising young defenders and brings a combination of pace, physical strength and technical ability.

There seems to be a lot of promise surrounding his adaptation to the fast pace of Premier League football, and with his experienced teammates on the flanks – it could be a very welcome move for the reds.

Johan Manzambi – (Freiburg to Aston Villa) – £60 million

Aston Villa have responded to the departure of Rogers by making their own significant investment, bringing in youngster Johan Manzambi from Freiburg.

The 20-year old will feel plenty of pressure on his shoulders as he is tasked with maintaining Villa’s threat as they restructure their attack.

The Swiss international was impressive at this summer’s World Cup, scoring three goals and adding another two assists to inspire his nation’s quarterfinal run.

Villa’s recruitment is particularly interesting because the club needs to balance ambition with the financial realities of competing in European football.

Jan Paul van Hecke – (Brighton to Tottenham) – £52 million

Tottenham’s summer spending spree has also extended to defence, with Jan Paul van Hecke arriving from Brighton for around £52 million.

The Dutch centre-back has impressed during his time in the Premier League and offers Spurs a combination of physical strength and composure on the ball.

His arrival is particularly important given the changes taking place in Tottenham’s defensive unit.

He also provides an aerial attacking threat that saw him score three goals and assist twice last season in the Premier League.

Maxence Lacroix – (Crystal Palace to Chelsea) – £52 million

Chelsea have also strengthened their defence with the signing of Maxence Lacroix from Crystal Palace.

This is a huge move for the Blues as they seek replacements for key defensive figures Marc Cucurella and Trevor Chalobah, who both left the club this summer.

Lacroix brings Premier League experience, pace and the ability to defend in space — qualities that could be particularly valuable to Chelsea.

The 26-year old French defender could be a key figure in the heart of the Blues’ defense this season, alongside Wesley Fofana and Levi Colwill in a back three.

Andrey Santos – (Chelsea to Manchester United) – £50 million

Manchester United have not been very active this summer window but acquired the services of Santos, adding another energetic midfielder to Michael Carrick’s squad.

Santos had been regarded as an important part of Chelsea’s long-term plans, making his departure somewhat surprising. United see the Brazilian as a player capable of adding energy and technical quality to their midfield.

The 22-year old dynamic midfielder can be an integral part of Carrick’s plans at Old Trafford, plus his touch of Brazilian flare could spice up their midfield.
