The next stage of the 2026 Citi FM/Channel One TV Literacy Challenge takes place today, Sunday, August 16, with 100 shortlisted Junior High School students expected to sit for a written aptitude test at the British Council in Accra.

The test, scheduled for 12:30 PM, forms part of the competition’s nationwide search for Ghana’s brightest young minds.

The contestants, aged between 11 and 15, have been shortlisted from across the country and will answer 100 multiple-choice questions designed to assess their general and applied knowledge.

Head of Programmes Production at Channel One TV, Apiorkor Seyiram Ashong-Abbey, said the aptitude test would serve as a critical stage in determining which contestants progress to the next level of the competition.

The Top 100 contestants emerged from an earlier stage in which participants were required to write a letter of not less than 600 words to the Minister for Education, acting as youth consultants.

The letter focused on the advantages and disadvantages of using Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education and required contestants to propose practical ways Ghana could integrate AI into basic schools without leaving learners in rural and underserved communities behind.

Following today’s aptitude test, the top three contestants from each region will advance to the regional quiz stage.

The ultimate winner will receive a grand prize of GH¢10,000 and a laptop as contestants progress through the various stages in the race for top honours.

The Literacy Challenge is powered by Channel One TV and Citi FM and sponsored by Prospectus Ghana Limited, SIC Insurance and Advocate Publishing.
