Wenchi, (Bono), August 11, GNA – Masaba Fanyinama III, the President of the Council of Wangara Chiefs, has urged unemployed youth and graduates to leverage new media opportunities, and find something worth doing with their lives.

He emphasised that the youth must utilise  the social media to build themselves, instead of engaging in cybercrime and bullying.

He said the advancement in technology had several benefits and asked them to take advantage of the Artificial Intelligence and scout for job opportunities and entrepreneurship and further education.

Masaba Fanyinama III gave the advice when he addressed a durbar of chiefs and people of the Wangaras to climax their annual Kurubi festival at Wenchi in the Bono Region.

He expressed concern about the use of new media to spread mis/dis information as well as the growing trend of online scam among the youth.

Masaba Fanyinama asked the Wangara youth to bury their differences and live peaceably with one another.

Mr Bint Abdallah Ibrahim, the Chairman of the Banda National Heritage Council, explained that the festival sought to deepen the culture and tradition of the Wangaras, blending Islamic faith and Africa heritage.

He said: “The Kurubi festival historically commemorates Laylatul Qadr, refers as the Night of Power and the descent of the Holy Quran to Prophet Muhammad.”

The event featured cultural performances highlighting the cultural symbol of purity, modesty and chastity of the Wangaras.
