Ras Kuuku Urges Peace in Kantanka Family Amid Controversial Funeral Disputes

The recent death of Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, a revered spiritual leader, inventor, and industrialist in Ghana, has been overshadowed by bitter family disputes over his funeral arrangements. In a poignant appeal, Ras Kuuku, a respected reggae musician and native of the Dome-Kwabenya Constituency, has called on the Kantanka family to prioritize peace and dignity for the late apostle.

Speaking exclusively to Okay FM on Wednesday, Ras Kuuku expressed deep sorrow over the escalating tensions within the Kantanka family, which have threatened to overshadow the late apostle’s legacy. Kantanka, whose contributions to Ghana’s spiritual, technological, and industrial sectors were monumental, deserved a peaceful and dignified farewell, he argued, rather than a farewell marred by conflict.

A Call for Unity Amid Family Divisions

Ras Kuuku, who is no stranger to public advocacy, acknowledged that he typically avoids commenting on private family matters. However, the gravity of Kantanka’s passing and the widespread respect he commanded across the nation compelled him to speak out.

“I usually do not want to speak about people’s family matters, but they should let peace reign. How can your father be dead and guns are being fired? How can siblings fight like that?” he questioned, his voice laced with frustration.

The musician emphasized that the people of Dome-Kwabenya, where he was raised, were deeply invested in honoring Kantanka’s legacy. Residents had expressed a collective desire for a peaceful funeral, and Ras Kuuku urged the family to unite in respect for the late apostle.

“The people of Dome say they want peace. Anytime the funeral is done, we will all come and honor the legend, so they should let peace reign in the family,” he stated, underscoring the community’s longing for unity.

Legal Battles and Public Gatherings

The funeral disputes have escalated to the point where the Accra High Court issued an interim injunction to halt the proceedings, reflecting the severity of the divisions. Despite this, thousands of mourners—including family members, sympathizers, and followers of the Kristo Asafo Mission—have gathered at Gomoa Mpota in the Central Region to pay their final respects.

Ras Kuuku’s plea comes at a critical moment, as the Kantanka family remains deeply divided over burial arrangements, the funeral date, and succession issues. The musician’s intervention reflects a broader societal concern over the erosion of family harmony in the face of grief and legacy disputes.

A Legacy Beyond Conflict

Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka was not just a spiritual leader but also a visionary inventor and industrialist, known for his contributions to Ghana’s technological and economic landscape. His death has left a void in the nation’s spiritual and intellectual spheres, making the need for a peaceful farewell even more urgent.

Ras Kuuku’s appeal serves as a reminder that respect for the dead should transcend personal grievances. As the funeral proceedings continue amid legal and familial challenges, his words carry weight—not just as a plea for peace, but as a call to honor a man whose life was dedicated to service, innovation, and spiritual guidance.

The outcome of these disputes will not only shape the Kantanka family’s future but also influence how Ghana remembers one of its most influential figures. For now, Ras Kuuku’s message stands as a hopeful plea: let peace reign so that Kantanka can rest in dignity.
