The Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry has begun discussions with MTN Ghana on a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and promoting entrepreneurship as a key driver of Ghana’s economic transformation.

The Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, made the commitment when a delegation from MTN Ghana paid a courtesy call on her at the Ministry in Accra on Tuesday, July 7, 2026.

The MTN Ghana delegation was led by the company’s Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer, Ms. Adwoa Wiafe, with discussions focusing on areas of collaboration to support the growth, competitiveness and sustainability of Ghanaian businesses.

The engagement explored opportunities for leveraging MTN Ghana’s expertise, digital solutions and corporate social investment initiatives to complement government’s efforts to create a stronger ecosystem for MSMEs.

Hon. Ofosu-Adjare reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to working closely with the private sector to provide the needed support for small businesses to thrive, noting that MSMEs remain critical to job creation, innovation and economic development.

She expressed appreciation to MTN Ghana for its interest in partnering with the Ministry, adding that such collaborations would contribute significantly to advancing Ghana’s industrialization and enterprise development agenda.

The Minister emphasized the importance of identifying priority areas where the partnership could deliver maximum impact, particularly in helping entrepreneurs improve their capacity, access opportunities and build sustainable businesses.

She further highlighted the role of the Ghana Enterprises Agency in expanding support for entrepreneurs through skills development programmes, start-up assistance and seed funding initiatives designed to help MSMEs scale up their operations.

Hon. Ofosu-Adjare expressed optimism that the partnership between the Ministry and MTN Ghana would open new avenues for empowering entrepreneurs, promoting innovation and accelerating private sector-led economic growth.

The meeting forms part of ongoing efforts by government to deepen collaboration with industry players in building a resilient business environment and positioning Ghanaian enterprises for greater competitiveness in the local and global markets.
