Takoradi, July 16, GNA – The MTN Ghana, has engaged Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the Western Region to help them improve their businesses through sound management practices and strategic branding.

The engagement, held in Takoradi, was part of the company’s second edition of its SME Business Clinic on the theme: “Building a Strong Business Model Through Unique Branding.”

The event, organised also as part of activities marking the MTN’s 30th Anniversary in Ghana, was attended by entrepreneurs from across the region to equip them with the necessary knowledge and practical skills to strengthen their businesses.

Speaking to  journalists on the side-lines, Mr Mohammed Abubakari-Sidick, Senior Manager for SME Sales, Partnerships, and Business Broadband at MTN Ghana, said the business clinic underscored the company’s belief in the potential of small and medium-sized enterprises as avenues to bridge the unemployment gap in the country.

He said: “We have brought on board partners who will support SMEs in building their capacity through branding, packaging, and other business development areas, to enable them to grow their businesses and compete more effectively in the marketplace.”

He stated that it was important to support SMEs, noting that they formed the backbone of Ghana’s private sector and made significant contributions to the country’s Gross Domestic Product and overall national development.

Mr Abubakari-Sidick said through the initiative participating SMEs would benefit from a range of digital tools including assistance with the creation of business websites, obtaining unique business contact numbers, and exploring other digital business models to enhance their operations and visibility.

Mr Richard Maglo, a business and brand consultant, and a facilitator for the event, said the session was to help the participants to put in place structures and systems to build a better foundation to set up stronger businesses.

The participants expressed their gratitude to MTN, stressing that the training would go a long way to enhance their businesses.
