Accra, July 8, GNA-A three-member delegation of the Ghana India Chamber of Commerce (GICC) has successfully concluded a week-long official business mission to India.
It reaffirmed the Chamber’s commitment to strengthening trade, investment and commercial cooperation between Ghana and India.
The delegation, led by the Chairman, Mr. David Brian Obro, and comprising the Executive Director, Mr. Stephen Kwaku Darku, and Platinum Member, Mr. Solomon Ntow Wiafe, undertook the visit from 22nd to 30th June 2026.
The primary purpose of the mission was to participate in the Bharat Global Connect 2026 Conference and Exhibition, one of India’s premier international trade and investment platforms, which brought together business leaders, investors and policymakers from across the world.
A major highlight of the visit was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ghana India Chamber of Commerce and the Indo-African Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IACCI) in New Delhi. The agreement is expected to promote trade facilitation, business networking, investment promotion, knowledge exchange and enhanced cooperation between businesses in Ghana and India.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by Ghana’s Honorary Consul to Mumbai, Mr. Premal Lokhandwala, and a representative of Ghana’s High Commission to India, underscoring the importance of the partnership.
The delegation also travelled to Surat in the State of Gujarat, where the Chamber signed a second Memorandum of Understanding with the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI).
The partnership is aimed at fostering stronger business linkages, facilitating business-to-business engagements and creating new opportunities for trade and investment between enterprises in Ghana and the Gujarat region.
As part of the official engagements, the delegation called on Ghana’s High Commission to India, where they held fruitful discussions with Ghana’s High Commissioner to India, Professor Kwesi Obiri-Danso, Muniru Kadiri, Head of the Consular Section, and other officials.
Discussions centred on strengthening economic diplomacy, promoting Ghana as an attractive investment destination and supporting Ghanaian businesses seeking opportunities in India.
In a further demonstration of its commitment to building strategic partnerships, the delegation met with the leadership of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), one of India’s leading business organisations.
The team held discussions with the Director General, Ms. Jyoti Vij, and the Joint Director of the International Division (Africa Desk), Mr. Amit Madaan, on potential areas of collaboration to improve trade, investment and institutional partnerships between Ghana and India.
Speaking after the mission, the Chairman of Ghana India Chamber of Commerce, Mr. David Brian Obro, described the visit as successful, noting that the partnerships established would create new avenues for business cooperation, investment promotion and economic growth for both countries.
The Chamber believed that the strategic engagements undertaken during the visit would significantly contribute to expanding bilateral trade, attracting investments and strengthening the longstanding relations between Ghana and India.
The Ghana India Chamber of Commerce remains committed to serving as a bridge between the business communities of Ghana and India by facilitating partnerships, promoting investment opportunities and advocating policies that enhance bilateral trade and economic development.
