James Victor Gbeho passed away on June 13, 2026, at the age of 91. Reports indicate that he died at a hospital, although the cause of death has not yet been publicly disclosed.

2. He served as Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister

Gbeho was Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs from 1997 to 2001 under the administration of Jerry John Rawlings. During that period, he helped shape and implement the country’s foreign policy.

3. He represented Anlo in Parliament
After his time as Foreign Minister, he entered Parliament and served as Member of Parliament for the Anlo Constituency from 2001 to 2005.

One of the highest points of his diplomatic career came when he was elected President of the ECOWAS Commission. He served from 2010 to 2012 after receiving unanimous support from West African leaders.
