A computer science student’s digital healthcare access platform took the top prize at GIMPA’s first technology showcase in Accra, where more than 70 student projects competed.
Conrad Aadem Nyuurr, a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science student at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), won the top award at the GIMPA Tech Fair & Industry Showcase 2026 with MEDIQ-GH, a platform designed to widen access to healthcare services through digital tools. Judges assessed entries on innovation, scalability, feasibility, industry relevance, and potential social impact.
Held under the theme “Innovating for Impact: Technology Solutions for Ghana’s Future,” the showcase drew students, industry representatives, government officials, and investors. Participating organisations included MTN, Consolidated Bank Ghana, the African Technology Forum, and the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation.
Other finalists presented a vehicle recovery tracking application built to operate in real time, and a booth and service management system aimed at improving operational efficiency.
The fair included pitching sessions, technology demonstrations, and a networking session connecting students with employers, mentors, and potential investors. Stakeholders speaking at the event pointed to financial services as one of the sectors where technology opportunities remain largely untapped.
GIMPA’s School of Technology and Social Sciences said the showcase reflects its goal of producing graduates who combine technical competence with entrepreneurship and the ability to design solutions for practical problems.
