Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance following Ghana’s 1-1 draw against Wales in their final warm-up match ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Portuguese tactician praised his players for quickly adapting to his ideas despite having limited time to work with the full squad.
“What really pleased me a lot is the way the players listened to my instruction; my game plan, they were very respectful,” Queiroz said after the match.
The veteran coach revealed that the team had only one full training session together before facing Wales but was impressed by the players’ understanding and execution of his tactical approach.
“With just one training session with the full squad, I was pleased with how the players played to my instruction and game plan.”
Queiroz also singled out defenders Jonas Adjetey and Jerome Opoku for special praise after the pair were handed their first start together at the heart of Ghana’s defence.
“It was the first time Adjetey and Opoku played together and they were brilliant,” he added.
The draw concludes Ghana’s preparations for the World Cup, with Queiroz now expected to fine-tune his lineup ahead of the Black Stars’ opening game against Panama on June 17 as the four-time African champions seek to make a strong impression on football’s biggest stage.
