Relegated Nations FC beat Dreams FC to lift the 2025-26 FA Cup trophy

Dreams FC were stunned by relegated Nations FC 5-4 on penalties in the final of Ghana’s FA Cup at the Legon Sports Stadium on Sunday evening.

Coming into the game, Nations were seen as the underdogs following their surprising relegation from Ghana Premier League despite winning their last game of the season away over Karela United in Tamale.

Dreams, on the other hand, were the competition’s favourites and were expected by many soccer connoisseurs and neutrals to lift the title but they were pegged back early in the game.

Joseph Effah opened the scoring for Nations just around the half hour mark with a wonderful finish but 19-year-old Abdul Razak Salifu pulled even for Dreams in additional time of the first half.

After the break, none of the clubs could find an opening to take the lead. With the game travelling to extra time, the chances became premium leading to extra time.

Next season, continental games are expected to be held in Abrankese as Nations FC will represent the country in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup for the first time in the club’s history..

They will be first club from the Bosomtwe enclave to play in the inter-club competition at the Kwame Kyei Sports Complex in Abrankese while hoping to regain promotion to the Premier League.
